The Story
Joan was my mums sister. During WW2 Joan worked at Euxton Royal Ordnance Factory. The girls wrote messages and attached them to the munitions that they made. One soldier started to write to Joan and he came to visit her. He gave my mum a handkerchief and inside it was a peach. She had never seen a peach before and she marvelled at its velvet skin. She kept it wrapped in the tissue and placed it in a drawer until her mum told her to eat it before it rotted. Joan is one of the first designs that we developed. It is inspired by the workwear that the girls wore in the munitions factories.
