Handcrafted denim shirt with contrast stitch details. Designed, cut and made in Lancashire.

A mood enhancing and compliment attracting shirt.

Our ever-popular Dorothy peplum shirt has had a few little tweaks for this denim version.

The contrast stitching wanders across the front pockets, tracing the shapes of the Pennine hills. The gathered peplum has a lovely textured edge, making use of the natural selvedge of the cloth rather than letting it go to waste.

Designed to sit at the high hip, creating balance through the waist while allowing ease through the body.  Button front to the waist using natural corozo buttons made in England.

Caring For Your Garment

We use a  carefully selected 100% cotton needlecord from Brisbane Moss chosen for its durability, drape and ability to soften beautifully with wear.

  • Machine wash at 30°C
  • Line dry where possible
  • Warm iron if desired on reverse
  • Cool tumble dry 

A personal process

Our  handcrafted one by one process takes 3-4  weeks from order to completion. Each pair is meticulously cut and sewn by hand with dedicated attention to detail, ensuring a truly personal experience. We can also include any custom length changes. We invite you to embrace this thoughtful approach and enjoy wearing our  timeless pieces for years to come.

The Story Behind Dorothy

Dorothy is named after my mum. She belonged to a generation that understood the value of good clothing and the importance of repair. She believed a garment should be practical, comfortable and beautifully made. If it wasn't useful, she wasn't interested. This shirt could only ever have been called Dorothy.

Where possible, I choose materials made in the UK and Ireland, or source through long-established UK merchants. For the things that can't be found closer to home, I work with trusted suppliers who share information about where and how their materials are made.

I believe you should know what goes into your clothes. Every Withnell garment comes with its own recipe, listing the materials used, where I sourced them and where they were made.
