WHO IS WITHNELL?
It is a personal journey of discovery and development. In her small studio, Paula designs and makes each pattern. Inspired by nostalgia and history she nurtures each of her designs for durability and modern day comfort. Very aware of her designer responsibility to produce with thought and consideration for the future. Paula chooses to work with only natural materials that are kinder to us and to the environment. Materials are sourced from the finest local suppliers and merchants to support the UK economy.
The creation of slow handmade garments requires high-quality materials and specialised skills. One of the most compelling reasons to work this way is that garments are more environmentally sustainable than their mass-produced counterparts. There’s less reliance on heavy machinery and harmful chemicals with handmade goods. Withnell use natural materials such as cotton and linen, made in small batches, often using organic fibres.
With a keen eye and skilled hands she produces each garment to order so that no precious natural resources are wasted.
We have a zero-waste approach. Through clever craftsmanship, we breathe new life into every leftover material ensuring that all resources are maximised without generating waste.
