Handmade cotton twill dress with a soft handle, designed and made in Lancashire.

A dress made for comfort and for uplifting your spirits.

Designed to sit slightly high waisted, creating an elongating silhouette  while allowing ease through the body.  Pockets to the front bodice and deep side seam pockets in the skirt offer plenty of practical elements.   Natural corozo buttons chosen for their distinctive character to the front and cuffs.

Fit:  Lynne wears a Withnell size 3 (14-16)  in Noah (navy).   Dorothy  wears a Withnell size 2( 10-12) in Clay.

Caring For Your Garment

Made using a soft sanded twill 1005 cotton, chosen for its soft handle, drape  and durability.

  • Machine wash at 30°C
  • Line dry where possible
  • Warm iron on reverse if desired

Made Slowly

Dorothy is made to order in Lancashire. No excess stock is produced and every garment is cut individually once an order is placed. Natural fibres, careful sourcing and small-scale production sit at the heart of Withnell.

Delivery

Please allow approximately 2-3 weeks for your garment to be made.

All  orders are shipped using tracked delivery.

The Story Behind Dorothy

Dorothy is named after my mum. She belonged to a generation that understood the value of good clothing and the importance of repair. She believed a garment should be practical, comfortable and beautifully made. If it wasn't useful, she wasn't interested. This shirt dress could only ever have been called Dorothy.
