Handmade cotton corduroy or denim pinafore dress with a trapeze silhouette, designed and made in Lancashire.

Gail is a softly structured pinafore dress with a panelled body creating a flared silhouette and big practical pockets positioned for comfort.  Designed to pull on and move with ease. 

Each garment is individually cut and sewn to order in my garden studio in Lancashire.

Fit

Gail  has a relaxed fit through the body with gentle shaping created through the  panels creating freedom of movement. Designed to skim rather than cling.

Behind the Design

 Gail was inspired by the topography throughout the Pennine landscape. Gail ispart of   our 'clough' collection designed to be fluid and to fall naturally.  

Like all Withnell garments, Gail began as an original pattern drafted by hand in my studio before being refined through multiple samples and fittings.

Made One-by-One

Every Gail pinafore dress is:

• Pattern drafted in-house
• Individually cut by hand
• Sewn by a single maker
• Finished using traditional sewing techniques

I make around 100 garments each year, allowing me to focus on quality rather than quantity.

A - line pinafore. This dress is simple and fun! I can promise that it will work hard for you in your wardrobe, a great dress for all seasons. Featuring a pull on square neckline and two very deep pockets. Wear this dress every day, all year round. Gail skims the body beautifully. The A-line shape allows for freedom of movement and it sits above the knee. A pretty floral trim is used to bind the armholes and the hem.

Fabric & Feel

This dress is made using carefully selected corduroy and denim, both chosen for their natural fibres and durability, 

Cotton is :

• Breathable
• Temperature regulating
• Naturally biodegradable
• Suitable for year-round layering

The fabric will become softer and more personal with every wash showing seam lines, creases and fade lines that are personal to the wearer.

Every Withnell garment includes:

These small details are intended to encourage a longer relationship with your clothing.

Styling Notes

Wear Gail through summer with a t-shirt or Ada blouse, layer with the Jack Jacket and warm tights during cooler months. The relaxed silhouette works equally well with boots, sandals or trainers.

Caring For Your Garment

• Machine wash at 30°C
• Line dry where possible
• Warm iron if desired

Corduroy and denim naturally develop character with wear.  

Made Slowly

Helen is made to order in Lancashire.

No excess stock is produced and every garment is cut individually once an order is placed.

Natural fibres, careful sourcing and small-scale production sit at the heart of Withnell.

Delivery

Please allow approximately 2-3 weeks for your garment to be made. All orders are shipped using tracked delivery.
